LONDON IRISH MOTOR CLUB
London Calling by Sean Moriarty
For Immediate Release – London 16-05-2006
Earlier this year group of London based LONDON motorsport enthusiasts came together to form the London Irish Motorclub. The club has only been in existence since mid March but has already gained approval from the Motorsport Association. Membership stands at around 60 people at the moment but the club are keen to attract more like-minded individuals. The club boasts such well-known rally competitors as John Reddington and Ollie O’Donovan on their membership book, indeed O’Donovan was elected inaugural club President at the clubs first official meeting in March.
The new club hope to start organising single venue rallies and sprints by the end of the year or early in 2007. Well-known rally competitor Gerard Moroney is currently in negotiation with venues in the London area. Another step forward was taken following the announcement that the club is now affiliated to the Association of South Eastern Car Clubs. This means that, from next year on, any event that the club organises will be included in ASECC championships, adding greatly to the financial viability of such events and also guaranteeing quality entries. Club Chairman Mike Smith was instrumental in securing this affiliation, through his contacts in the Creavan Motor Club.
The clubs official website is now up and running and can be accessed at www.londonirishmotorclub.com
